38 - Luminous Darshan

There lived a devotee of God named Kalyansingh. He used to meditate for a long time.

He had only one desire, he wanted to realize the divine luminous form of God. Daily he would meditate for six to seven hours.

He considered Bapashri as Anadimukta. He was in contact with Bapashri. Bapashri was also pleased with him. Kalyansinghji would follow Bapashri whereever he would go. But he used to come late during congregations.

Once Bapashri asked him, ‘Kalyansingh, why do you come late in congregations? Why do you lock yourself in a small room?’ Kalyansinghji explained, ‘Bapa, I am looking for Maharaj. I am yearning for luminous Darshan of Maharaj.’

Bapashri inquired, ‘what do you do sitting in the room?’ Kalyansinghji replied, ‘I meditate upon Maharaj. I look for Maharaj.’ Bapashri revealed, ‘Maharaj Himself is present in this congregation and you are looking for Him in a room. How could you meet Maharaj there?’

Kalyansinghji promised, ‘Bapa, I will attend from tomorrow.’ Bapashri informed, ‘If you come here, I will make it possible for you to have Darshan of God.’

Kalyansinghji was full of joy. He thought that for such a long time he had been meditating but through the grace of Bapashri, he would certainly have the Darshan of Maharaj.

He assured, ‘Bapa, tomorrow morning, I will definitely come early. Kalyansinghji went to his room. He couldn’t sleep. He was feeling restless due to joy. Every now and then, he would check up if it was morning. He was eagerly waiting for the morning.

It was early morning. He got up. He had bath and purified himself. He went to Bapashri. He prayed to Bapashri, ‘Narayan Hare! The poor devotee is begging for the bliss of Maharaj. Have mercy on me and grant me a favour.’

Bapashri was testing his patience, ‘Still there is time!’ said he. Kalyansingh was impatient, ‘Bapa, I have spent the night with so much difficulty. Now how long should I wait?’ Bapashri repeated, ‘Still there is time.’

Kalyansinghji sat down. He would look at Bapashri frequently, but Bapashri didn’t even look at him. He kept on talking. Bapashri got up, when it was time for recitation (Parayan).

He informed everyone, ‘Let us go. Today I have to help Bhagat to have Darshan of Maharaj.’ They were glad that they would have a chance to witness. All went to the temple.

Bapashri had already informed in the temple. Therefore, all the preparations were made. The idol of God was adorned with flowers.

They had lighted the lamps and incense. The atmosphere in temple was pious and fragrant. They lighted Aarti. Bapashri showed, ‘Kalyansinghji, Look at the throne. Who is adorning the throne?’

Kalyansinghji stared at the idol without blinking his eyes. Bapashri and Haribhakta begin to recite the Aarti. Kalyansinghji was not aware of it.

Suddenly he noticed brilliance spreading out of the idol. He smelled various scents. He had never observed such beautiful appearance of Maharaj.

He was completely absorbed into the graceful and divine form of Maharaj. He was not at all aware of the happenings in the temple. The Aarti was over.

The tears of joy and affection were rolling down from the eyes of Kalyansinghji. He bowed down again and again to Bapashri and repeatedly said, ‘Bapa, You are the most compassionate. You are merciful. Through your grace, I had luminous Darshan of Maharaj.’

Bapashri caught hold of him and hugged him. Again Kalyansinghji prayed to him, ‘Bapa, you have fulfilled. My wish. You are great, you have divine prowess.’

Bapashri spoke playfully, ‘Kalyansinghji, now enjoy the bliss of Maharaj. Let us go to Katha.’
